2021 like 2020 has been yet another year of sadness and disappointments with many events being postponed and cancelled. So many young ladies missing out on proms to mark the end of their school years.
When I reopened the shop in April I did not expect to have any customers at all as I didn't have anyone through the door when we came out of the first lockdown. To be honest I had written Prom 2021 off.
Thankfully, this was not the case - it was a lovely shock to hear the phone ring with lots of appointments being made for weekends and after-school. It was also great to see many customers returning who have purchased from me previously.
It has been fantastic to return to the shop and help lots find their perfect prom dress. In some cases, this has proved tricky due to understandably last-minute decisions being made by schools to hold their proms this year. In 'normal' times we are usually able to have dresses made to order but due to these late decisions, we had missed the order deadlines in March. This being said, we were lucky to have lots of dresses in stock and designers ordered surplus stock.
Since opening in January 2018 I have increased the number of styles and designers and I now have over 350 prom dresses and evening dresses in the shop.
It has been great to hear that some proms have been able to go ahead or that alternative arrangements have been made for those proms postponed or cancelled.
